Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques, better known as Sean Paul, needs no introduction. The world-renowned artiste and Grammy Award winning reggae giant will be embarking on his first ever multi-city tour of India beginning November 2.

This is not only a big occasion for his fans here in India, but a dream come true for the Jamaican artiste too, as the singer has been trying to come to this part of the world for the last six years. “Sean Paul is a big fan of Indian music and listens to it often. He has been wanting to come to the country for a long time now, because he has a lot of friends in Goa. His arrival here, will be a huge occasion for all of us,” said Fardeen Shirazi, creative head of Blue Note Entertainment, which is organising the event.
According to sources, Sean Paul will fly to India one week before the concert with 11 crewmembers, which includes two or four dancers. He is slated to have his first performance in Quantum, Noida, on November 2, Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai, on November 3 and Manpho Convention Centre, Bengaluru, on November 4. All his concerts will start by 6 pm, and end by 10 pm. According to the organisers, with back-to-back performances in three Indian cities, the artiste doesn’t want to stress himself. “We have received an official letter from Seal Paul requesting that the concerts end by 10 pm. I will make sure that it goes that way,” Mr Shirazi said.
According to sources, Sean Paul is set to don a desi look. The organisers also want to perform a puja before the concert begins, to make the singer familiar with Indian traditions. “We will request Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, to give some kind of traditional Indian look to Sean Paul and the dancers. Although it has not been confirmed yet, I am trying my best,” the organiser said.
As the concert is happening just before Diwali, the organisers have also planned a glass mirror work decor at the concert venue. “We don’t want to fiddle with the space where Sean Paul will be performing. Instead, we will decorate the entrance with glass work to give it an Indian touch,” Mr Shirazi said.
Known to be fussy about his food, the “cheese and pasta” aficionado will also be treated to a dish that resembles his hairstyle (a mohawk), his organisers said. But the icing on the cake, would be vada pao laden with cheese. “He loves pastas, Italian snacks or anything which has a huge quantity of cheese. I have asked the head chef of the hotel where Sean Paul is likely to stay to make pasta with broccoli and design a cheese ball to be placed on top of it, to resemble his hairstyle — a mohawk. We will also get him to taste vada pao with cheese,” Mr Shirazi said.
This multi-platinum selling artiste’s popular hits are a personal favourites of DJs in India. Paul, who has collaborated with industry heavyweights like Pitbull, T-Pain, Ludacris, Bob Sinclar, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dog, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Nelly, P. Diddy, Usher and Rihanna, is equally popular for his solo hits.
The artiste is also planning to meet up with Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and actress Priyanka Chopra, whose latest album is already much talked about
overseas.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
