Mumbai, April 5
A middle-aged driver was arrested on Thursday for allegedly kidnapping and having unnatural sex with a 13-year-old boy last week in the Vakola area of Santa Cruz (east), the police said.
The accused Mohammad Jamshed Shaikh was passing by the Air India Colony in Vakola, when he saw a water tap and stopped to wash his car. The victim is a resident of the same colony. He was playing outside with a group of friends when Shaikh spotted him.
When the victim came near Shaikh’s vehicle, he lured him and took him to his car. Shaikh then intimidated the victim and had unnatural sex with him. When the boy raised an alarm, Shaikh pushed him out and drove away. The victim’s friends, however, managed to note down the number of the vehicle.
The victim then went home and confided in his parents after which they approached the Vakola police station and registered a case against an unknown person under Section 377 (unnatural sex), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC and other sections of the Protection of Children and sexual offences Act.
The police managed to trace Shaikh’s residence at Kurla, but he was on the run. Shaikh was finally arrested in Ghatkopar on Thursday.
