Woman robbed, murdered in bandra highrise
A 58-year-old woman was found murdered at her affluent residence in Bandra (west) on Tuesday night, the police said. As some valuables are missing from the residence, the police suspect obbery as one of the possible motives behind the murder.
According to the Bandra police, at around 8.15 pm, the deceased Nalini Chainani was found in a pool of blood with her throat slit at her tenth floor flat of Madhuban Society in Pali Naka. Her husband alerted the police and rushed her to the nearby Lilawati Hospital where she was declared dead on admission.
A panchnama has been conducted and her body sent to the Cooper Hospital for an autopsy. “It looks as if some sharp object had been used in order to attack her. Some valuables are also missing from the residence. We have learnt that ome repair work was going on. We are making queries with the labourers,” said a police official.
The police has recorded the statement of her husband who is employed with Bharat Bijlee Limited. According to his statement, his wife was chatting with him on a messaging service till 5.30 pm, after which she stopped responding to his messages.
A case of murder has been registered at the Bandra police station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against an unidentified person. The police is making queries with the building’s security guard and looking for CCTV cameras in the vicinity as part of its investigation.
