Two held in connection with Dena bank robbery
In the wake of the Dena Bank robbery in Dadar on Sunday, the Shivaji Park police on Tuesday evening arrested two people. Both Geeta Uttan (35) and Ritu Waghela (25) were working as janitors in the same branch.
According to the police, Geeta had been working for the past few years and she recommended Waghela, who was hired one month ago. Both DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni and ACP Ramesh Dhanwat confirmed the development and said further investigations are underway. “We are investigating as to how the plan was hatched and most importantly which one of the two was the mastermind behind the burglary. There are also chances of their involvement in a similar robbery in the bank in 2006. Currently both of them are playing the blame game,” said a police official.
The `29,22,000 robbery was discovered on Monday morning, when the security and bank staff entered the office. The robbery had taken place on Sunday afternoon at the Dena Bank located in Navprabhat Chambers. The CCTV footage showed a raincoat clad man whose face, however, could not be seen as he had covered his face.
