Teen girl ‘sold, raped’; two held

Two persons, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the rape and trafficking of a 16-year-old girl from Dahisar who has been missing for the last one week. The victim, who approached Dahisar police after fleeing from confinement, said that she was gangraped by elderly persons in Kandivali.
The victim claimed that her friend spiked her drink, after which two elderly men raped her at a Kandivali bungalow. The victim was also reportedly sold off and was later confined to a room in Malwani for a week.
She somehow managed to flee and finally approached her family. The police has also detained two more persons including victim’s friend. According to the police, the victim lives in Kajupada slums, Dahisar (east). She recently appeared for SSC examinations from a Borivali-based school. Hetal, (24), lived in the victim’s neighborhood, but had shifted to Kandivali (west) recently. Hetal, on April 26, invited the victim to her birthday party, according to the complaint registered by the victim’s parents.
The teenager in the evening met Hetal, who took her to the house of 45-year old friend Manoj Ganatra alias Sunny at Dahanukarwadi in Kandivali (west).
“She was offered a drink that was laced with sedatives. After she fell unconscious, two elderly men reportedly raped her. She was later taken by Sunny’s friend Radhika Mehata to a room at Jankalyan Nagar in Malwani,” said an police officer. The victim learnt that Sunny and Mehta had sold her to the two elderly people for `25,000, officer added.
“We have registered offence under various sections of the IPC and relevant sections of PITA,” said ACP Sunil Deshmukh.

27-yr-old man found robbed, killed in virar

A 27-year-old man from Chembur was found murdered in Virar (east) on Friday morning. The police believes that he was robbed and stabbed on his neck and chest by unknown miscreants.
According to the Virar police, Ganesh Parshuram Sonawne, a bachelor lived in Suman Nagar and worked at a private firm in Bandra. Sonawne’s relatives said that he had borrowed `2,000 and left his house on Thursday evening with a friend to return the money in Borivali.
However, on his way he received a phone call, after which he asked his friend to leave and headed to Virar alone. In the evening, he informed his mother that he was in Virar and would return by 10.30 pm.
When he did not return his mother called on both numbers of his cellphone and found that they were switched off.
His parents and relatives rushed to the Bandra railway police and were asked to contact the Wadibunder GRP office near Masjid bunder station.
The family then mentioned that he had made the last phone call from Virar after which they were asked to go there.
When the family reached the Virar police station, the police showed them the dead body, which the parents confirmed that of Sonawne.
