Teen boy found dead inside tanker
The body of a 17-year-old boy was found in a water tanker inside Mulund on Monday.
The police has begun investigating the case, and has also detained a suspect. According to the police, Ram Kailash Chavan was found dead inside the cabin of the tanker between 7.30 am and 8 am on Monday on the Eastern Express Highway.
An officer from the Mulund police station stated, “He was dead when found and we could observe strangulation type marks around his neck.” An accidental death report has currently been registered. However, the body has been sent for a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
The police also added that Ram had come to Mumbai around two months ago, and would often visit his relatives at Vaishali Nagar, in Mulund (west). He worked as a cleaner in the tanker, whose owners are being questioned currently.
An individual has also been detained for questioning, but the police has refused to divulge any further details, stating that, “He has yet to be arrested and it would be inappropriate to reveal his complete identity.” The police will also question his relatives to know if the deceased had a recent argument with anyone who might have wanted to harm him and explore any possibility of sexual assault before boy’s death.
