Some relief after traces of drizzle
The island city on Monday not only witnessed some âpre-monsoon activityâ, but also a marginal dip in temperature due to it.
In parts of the island city ,there were traces of drizzle on Monday, however, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) did not record it because it was too ââinsignificantâ.
Director of weather forecast V.K. Rajeev said, âThere was cloud cover and slight drizzles in some areas. These are
pre-monsoon activities. There is lot of moisture, which is causing these activities. This is likely to continue for the next two days.â
He further said that the very same pre-monsoon activity has also led to the dip in mercury levels. âBecause of the clouds, there was a marginal dip in the temperatures,â he added.
Disseminating the forecast for Tuesday, the IMD said that the weather would be partly cloudy and there are possibilities of light rains and thundershowers in some parts of the city.
The maximum and minimum temperature would range between 35 and 28 degrees celsius, he said. While the maximum temperature on Monday was 34.8 degrees celsius and minimum stood at 28.4 degrees celsius.
The southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of southwest and east central Bay of Bengal with remaining parts of southeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of west central and northeast Bay of Bengal.
In addition to this, according to the IMD, conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some parts of southeast Arabian area and some more parts of Bay of Bengal during the next three days.
