Series of freak accidents continues to haunt CR
The CR’s streak of bad luck seems to not have an end in sight as a series of accidents continued to mar Friday. Two commuters travelling in two separate trains were seriously injured in a freak accident as they banged into each other at Nahur on Friday night. Both the commuters are in critical condition and have been admitted to Fortis Hospital at Mulund.
“At around 9.30pm, a CST-bound local was stationary at Nahur platform 2 when a person got off on the tracks. In a bid to get a glimpse of this, Sagar More leaned out. However, at the same moment there was a Thane fast local passing by in which Daulat Shyamsundar was travelling and he banged into More,” said police inspector Datta Pable from Nahurmstation. Both have sustained serious head injuries.
In a separate incident, an Ambernath-bound ladies first class compartment was stoned at Nahur station.
Meanwhile, a rooftop traveller was electrocuted on Friday evening between Matunga and Mahim station resulting in his death before he could be admitted to a hospital.
However, in a surprising show of the CR’s lack of grip on its situation, on Friday evening, there was a fire in the same Kurla cabin again because of which the suburban services had came to a standstill on Wednesday. On Thursday, three people had died and 34 others injured between Mulund and Nahur after being hit by signal pole.
