Raj visits Khadse at his Jalna home
MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday met leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse at his residence in Jalna and expressed his deep condolences. Mr Khadse has lost his son and his elder sister last week.
Raj went to meet Mr Khadse along with senior MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar. MNS leaders have expressed their condolences and gave him solace. Mr Khadse also spoke to them at length.
Mr Khadse and his family are grieving as they lost two family members one after the other. Mr Khadse’s only son Nikhil committed suicide last week by shooting himself in the head using his personal firearm.
He was said to be under depression after losing the legislative Council elections of Jalgaon local self-government in 2010 as a BJP nominee, despite the BJP and ally Shiv Sena having adequate numbers. Nikhil (37) survived by wife, son and a daughter. He was airlifted to the Godavari Hospital of Jalgaon, but was declared dead after admission.
Incidentally, just after two days of this loss, Mr Khadse’s elder sister Kamalbai Patil (74) passed away. She was in deep grief since the death of Nikhil and could not pull herself herself out of it, say family members.
Significantly, both the leaders had a face-off in March, when Raj alleged that Mr Khadse criticised the state government only for a settlement. Mr Khadse, while responding to Mr Thackeray’s allegations said he was willing to face any kind of probe.
