Raj: Chavan is incompetent
Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has been facing flak from all quarters in the recent past. After being criticised by coalition partner Nationalist Congress Party for inordinate delay of infrastructure projects and unaffordable prices of Mhada flats, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday questioned called him “incompetent”.
Speaking during his tour of drought-affected areas of Jalna, Mr Thackeray said that various organisations were opening fodder camps for animals and distributing water tanks as the government had failed to fulfill its responsibility. He also alleged that the government is not providing relief to the people in drought-hit areas.
“Prithviraj Chavan is an incompetent chief minister and has been imposed by the Congress high command. He came into Maharashtra as an off-period teacher. Off-period teacher is a substitute who comes to classroom in the absence of the designated teacher of the school/college,” said Raj.
Pointing towards the failure of the government, MNS chief said, “Drought was approaching in full force and this incompetent government has failed to anticipate the seriousness of the situation. As a result, people are facing acute shortage of water. Many benevolent people are coming forward to help those affected by the drought. But such a situation would not have arisen in the first place if there was some planning by the government. The state did not understand its responsibility.” Mr Thackeray went to a fodder camps, opened by his party at Kharpudi Road of Jalna. Before going to Jalna, he also visited fodder camps started in Nanded and Beed districts.
He also hit back against the allegations made by Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi, who has termed his tour of drought areas as a “show”. “How can they pass such comments on us, when they already have so much of poverty and destitution into their state, which was left by Azmi and his men and are living a good life in Maharashtra. I don’t want to reply to them. There has to be some limit, while commenting on serious issues like drought,” he said.
