PWD engineer’s cop custody extended till May 16
The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday accessed another bank locker belonging to alleged corrupt PWD executive engineer Satish Madhukarrao Chiklikar in Nanded and recovered `35 lakh in cash.
Additionally, Chiklikar and his accomplice, section engineer Jagdish Magan Wagh were produced in court on Friday, which extended their police remand till May 16.
The ACB had recovered `3.27 crore worth of cash, gold biscuits and ornaments from three lockers raided on Wednesday, bringing the total wealth, including cash, jewellery and property seized from Chiklikar till date to `17.90 crore.
On Wednesday, the ACB gained access to three lockers in two branches of Ahmednagar Merchants’ Cooperative Bank in Ahmednagar district where cash worth `56.69 lakh was discovered in the first locker; `1 lakh cash with 9.558 kg gold, including 6.312 kg gold biscuits valued at `2.67 crore in the second one; and 5.66 kg silver valued at `2.60 lakh in the third locker.
Further investigations of the files, accounts and lockers of the tainted engineer has uncovered factories, farms, plots, houses, shops and vehicles — totalling 26 properties discovered till date. His fixed deposits in various banks amounted to `7.86 lakh, along with `4 lakh worth of shares.
The accounts have been frozen.
The police custody of the engineer and his accomplice ended on Friday and they were produced in court where their custody was extended till May 16.
