Paramour held for lady’s murder
The murder case of an unidentified woman, who was found bundled in a suitcase on a platform at CST, was solved on Saturday after the arrest of her paramour.
The Government Railway Police, Pune arrested Pravin Thackeray (29), a painter from Chikhli near Pune. Thackeray is the prime accused in the case, and was in a live-in relationship with the deceased, identified as Roshni.
The police has identified Thackeray’s accomplice Amol Gangadhar Karunjule’s (25) location and will arrest him
soon.
“Thackeray was in a relationship with another woman, due to which he had frequent fights with Roshni. He then decided to eliminate Roshni and strangulated her to death on September 25,” said Mahindra Rokade, senior PI, Pune GRP.
“The body was stuffed in a suitcase, after which Thackeray, along with his accomplice, went to Chinchwad railway station the next morning. They took the suitcase from a local train to Lonavla and from there boarded the Mumbai-bound Sinhagad Express. The plan was to throw the suitcase in a valley from a running train, but Thackeray changed his mind due to heavy rush,” he added.
The police had focused their investigation on areas near Chinchwad. The CCTV footage revealed that the duo had disembarked from the general compartment that is reserved
for passengers from Chinchwad railway station.
“We then decided to find details about any woman missing from places near Chinchwad. We were tipped-off about Thackeray, who had changed his location. We arrested him after finding his location,” said Pratapsinh Patankar, superintendent of police, GRP, Pune.
