Many B'town celebs got rave party invite
Inquiries into the Juhu rave party busted a week ago by the police has revealed that many renowned names in the party circuit, as well as Bollywood personalities had been invited to the “sundown party”.
According to sources, the list of people expected to turn up for the part was sent to Oakwood director Vishay Handa by Deepesh Sharma from DJ Designer Hippies on May 12. The list, a copy of which is with The Asian Age, includes names like Amy Jackson, Prateik Babbar, Sohail Khan, Rohit Roy, Yash and Avanti Birla, Kunal Khemu, Harman Baweja and Zayed Khan.
Sharma, in his email to Handa, has said that these names are the “expected guest list” to be forwarded to sponsors of the party.
When asked about the list, deputy commissioner of police (Zone 9)Pratap Dighavkar said, “We are aware of this list. We know that invites for the party were sent to them. However, none of them were present at Oakwood Hotel when we conducted our raid. We are focusing on the 90 people detained in the raid, and will decide on further action based on the reports of the blood and urine analysis.”
The party was organised on an “invite only” basis, and names of all those who entered were checked against a final list of invitees. The initial list also includes fashion designer Rocky S., who later admitted to attending the party, but said that he was on his way out when the raid occurred. “Had I known this would turn out to be a rave party, I would not have been a part of it as I am against the entire concept of drugs,” he had said.
The police is now focusing on identifying the peddlers who sold the drugs found at the party. The police was formerly trying to identify any known peddlers by scanning the CCTV footage in the hotel. However, the terrace, where the party was held, is not covered by CCTV cameras, and the footage of those at the gate is too crowded to be able to identify any face, the police said.
