Man sells minor cousin to pimp, held
The Vashi police has arrested a 24-year-old man from Aurangabad who had been absconding since April 30 after allegedly selling his minor cousin into flesh trade to a pimp. The police had then rescued the girl and arrested three persons along with the pimp.
The police had laid a well-planned trap for Rajkumar Nagpure at Vashi on Monday when they nabbed him. “He had come for some personal work and we learnt of his visit through an informant when we nabbed him. He was subsequently placed under arrest and produced in court. We will demand a police custody of eight days,” said police inspector (crime) Rajesh Dewre. Nagpure had sold his 15-year-old cousin to one Lalan Naudha alias Munna for `20,000 in Aurangabad.
Munna then brought the girl to Mumbai and took her to a lodge in Chembur, where two unidentified men allegedly raped her in April. Munna, along with Nagpure, then brought her to the Kerala Bhavan area and were waiting for three other men to sell the girl. The three men, identified as Raju Sawant (33), Anil Dhotre (24) and Santosh Landre (30), were allegedly involved in flesh trade. “We received information of such transactions in flesh trade taking place. However, the trio along with Nagpure had run away from the spot after learning of our presence, and we only got the girl and Munna,” added Mr Dewre. Sawant, Dhotre and Landre were held from Nevasa, but Nagpure was still on the run. The girl was later sent to a women’s rescue home.
The accused have been arrested under Sections 366 (kidnapping), 370 (buying or disposing person as slaves), 342 (wrongful confinement), 372 (selling minors for prostitution), 376 (rape), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) , and 34 (common intention) of the IPC and other relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) and Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
