Man blamed wife, her mother for his suicide
Prakash Patni, the 32-year-old photographer who hanged himself to death at his Chembur residence two days ago, blamed his wife, her mother and aunt in a few lines scribbled on the wall. He also accused his wife of infidelity. Patni had announced his decision to end his life through status updates on Facebook. Additionally, one of his close friends has vociferously denied the police’s claim about Prakash being involved in gambling.
On his wall, Patni said his life was finished because of his wife Dimple, her mother Jaishree Kundani and aunt Mohini. “Because of my wife, her mother and aunt, I’m over. This 3 person are the reason (sic),” read one line. Another status, “She can’t be of anyone. Every month she a new boyfrien. Spoil my life (sic)”, pointed to his wife’s alleged infidelity. Dimple, however, remained unavailable for comments despite repeated attempts.
The RCF police is yet to register a suicide case and has only registered an accidental death report. Senior police inspector Dilip Yadav said, “Merely making a statement blaming someone for causing emotional pain can not be the grounds for arresting a person for abetting suicide. It is not a case of a person who was being hounded by loan sharks where we usually arrest them immediately. Someone else has to come forward and file a complaint against the people named in the suicide note. Otherwise the case cannot stand in court,” he said. Mr Yadav added that Patni had lost money in gambling, but clarified that the police was yet to ascertain if this was the cause behind his suicide.
