Malik: Need to exorcise Munde of NCP ghost

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) took senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gopinath Munde to task for alleging that NCP chief Sharad Pawar is conspiring to put him in trouble. He said that Mr Munde is suffering from some superstition about the NCP, and demanded that the Anti-Superstition Bill be implemented as soon as possible for the betterment of the BJP leader.
After making a confession of spending `8 crore during his last Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission of India sent a notice to Mr Munde. Later, he received another notice from the Income-Tax department, asking him to furnish details about the money that he claimed to have spent in elections. Since then, Mr Munde is alleging that Mr Pawar is trying to put him in trouble by various means. He alleged that Mr Pawar addressed three confidential meetings after which the I-T department slapped a notice against him.
Replying to the allegations made by Mr Munde, party spokesperson Nawab Malik on Thursday said, “We need to exorcise Mr Munde of the NCP ghost which seems to be trPune, July 11: The Maharashtra government will adopt an “electronic auction” system to ensure transparency in the auction of sand on the river banks of all districts in Maharashtra from this year. Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said that the e-auction system, which was experimented with last year as part of an e-governance drive, had resulted in an increase in government revenue. Mr Chavan, who chaired a meeting of state revenue officials in Pune, added that the government had decided to simplify the procedure of granting permission for non-agricultural land for speedy disposal of cases.
Asked about the agitation threatened by the Warkari sect in the state to protest against the proposed Anti-Superstition Bill, he said that the draft had been modified after discussion with representatives of the sect, adding that the law will seek to prevent only inhuman practices under the influence of superstitions. The government will undertake resurveying of all land in Maharashtra, starting with a pilot project in Pune, he said. c
