Malik calls Kirit ‘troublemaker’
Coming in full support of the public works department (PWD) minister Chhagan Bhujbal for the first time, NCP leader Nawab Malik on Thursday slammed BJP leader Dr Kirit Somaiya and said that Dr Somaiya had the habit of creating trouble for his own partymen, and this time too he might be targeting the senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde and MLA Prakash Mehta.
After a bribery scam involving PWD executive engineer Satish Chiklikar of Nashik came into light, Dr Somaiya has constantly alleged that the bribery racket is running with the involvement of the higher authorities of the PWD, including the minister and senior officers.
After making allegations against Mr Bhujbal’s officer on special duty (OSD) Sandeep Bedse, Dr Somaiya on Wednesday had said that Mr Bhujbal’s personal assistant Shailesh Changale too had amassed huge wealth — including a resort worth crores — and has ties with the then labour minister Nawab Malik.
Mr Malik, in his response, said that Dr Somaiya had the habit of creating trouble for his own leaders. “Firstly he created trouble for former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari by raising an issue and now again he was creating trouble for Mr Munde,” said Mr Malik.
“Mr Changale was with Mr Munde and then was with Mr Mehta and on the recommendation of Mr Mehta, I appointed Mr Changale in my office when I was the labour minister,” Mr Malik said.
He said that Dr Somaiya was well aware of the situation that he would not get a ticket in the upcoming elections and Mr Munde is the head of election campaign of the party in the state.
The NCP leader said, “If Dr Somaiya has any substantial proof then, he should submit it to the investigation agencies or go to court and not run a media trial by taking names.”
Mr Malik also supported the decision for not allowing prosecution of medical education minister Dr Vijaykumar Gavit in a graft case in the cabinet meet on held Wednesday.
