JC diwali holidays to end Nov 10
The Ganeshotsav holiday compensation controversy refuses to die down even as the entire education department machinery, including the minister himself, jumped in to placate the agitated sections of the society by shifting the compensatory holidays from Christmas to Diwali.
On the pretext of no clear instructions about when the holidays are to be compensated, junior colleges in the city have decided to have Diwali vacations along with the degree colleges, rather than from November 1-18 as stipulated by the education ministry.
According to Gloria Alves, an FYJC student of a South Mumbai college, when she approached the college to know when the Diwali vacations would end, she was told that it would end on November 10, the same date as the degree college vacations. JC students from other colleges also said that there was ambiguity with regards to the Diwali vacations.
