Jadhav takes jibe at Chavan
Newly-appointed state NCP president Bhaskar Jadhav on Tuesday made sarcastic jibes at chief minister Prithviraj Chavan suggesting that the CM was slow in decision-making. The NCP has asked the CM to convene a meeting of the co-ordination committee of Congress-NCP leaders about a month ago. But, there has been no response from the CM. Mr Jadhav said that in NCP leaders take fast decisions, but he was not well-versed with the work culture in other parties.
The CM has long been accused by his detractors for being slow in decision-making. Mr Jadhav used the same argument to ridicule the CM.
Madhukar Pichad, who was the state NCP president before Mr Jadhav, and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar wrote to the CM about six weeks ago to convene a coordination committee meeting to discuss administrative and political issues. In the letter, the NCP had asked the CM to hold the meeting within two days. There has been no response from the Congress leadership or the CM.
When asked about it, Mr Jadhav said, “We are well aware about the work culture in our party. But, do not know about work culture in other parties. Our leader Sharad Pawar clears every file on his table within three days. Ajit Pawar also takes decisions expeditiously. In NCP, all leaders are told to take decisions quickly and that is the reason my predecessor expected the decision on a coordination committee meeting within two days.”
Mr Jadhav, who was appointed as the state president on June 15 and Jitendra Awhad, who was appointed as the working president of the state unit of NCP, assumed charge of their offices at NCP headquarters on Tuesday.
Mr Jadhav said that that getting maximum number of seats for his party in the state, would be top on his agenda.
