IAC readies Bandra-Kurla plot for Anna
India Against Corruption took charge of the ground at the Bandra-Kurla Complex on Saturday for Anna Hazare’s fast after paying the MMRDA the concession amount of Rs 7,80,718 along with a security deposit of Rs 5,29,500.
Following Bombay high court’s the advice, India Against Corruption registered itself with Team Anna frontliner Arvind Kejriwal’s Public Cause Research Foundation and once again applied for a concession from the MMRDA.
With three days to go for the agitation, the Mumbai police and IAC took a review of the ground for finalising the arrangements.
“We have started barricading the area, and the construction of the stage is also been done. Emphasis is on the security, and hence IAC volunteers are coordinating with the Mumbai police,” said Preeti Menon, one of the IAC volunteers.
Meanwhile, the police has also pulled up socks in order to avoid any untoward incident at the venue.
“More than 2,500 policemen will be deployed at the venue, and after the stage is constructed, we will assess the ground from the security point of view,” said Vinayak Sawde, senior inspector, BKC police station.
