American rock heavyweights Guns N’ Roses have confirmed their maiden India tour in December this year. The Asian Age had on August 16 (http://www.asianage.com/life-and-style/gn-r-all-set-december-reign-359) broken the news about their forthcoming tour in a story with details about the dates and venues. The band will play in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Gurgaon on December 7, 9 and 12 respectively.

Band manager Fernando Lebeis said, “We are thrilled to finally have GN'R in India and know the fans have waited many years to see them live.”
Over the years there have been several rumours about the band visiting Indian shores, which only grew louder after GN’R finally released the album Chinese Democracy — one that was in the making for 14 years. Says keyboardist Dizzy Reed, the oldest bandmember apart from frontman Axl Rose, “It has been a lifelong dream of mine to visit India. I’ve always been fascinated by its ancient culture and influential people. To be able to experience some of that while rockin’ and rollin’ with Guns N' Roses, how awesome is that going to be? For all of the GN'R fans in India, the wait is almost over! See you in December.”
The band will be performing at the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai. Tickets will be priced at `1,500 for the Silver section, `3,000 for the Gold and go up `10,000 for the seated Platinum Lounge.
“This is a legendary band and we hope to make it a rocking concert experience in every sense of the word. We are gearing up for an unbelievable turnout, possibly the highest turnout ever for a rock concert in India,” says Karamjeet Singh, senior vice-president, MOOZ Entertainment, the company that is promoting the tour.
Guns N’ Roses comprises Axl Rose (legendary singer/songwriter), DJ Ashba (guitar), Dizzy Reed (keyboards), Tommy Stinson (bass), Richard Fortus (guitar), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (guitar), Chris Pitman (keyboards) and Frank Ferrer (drums). The multi-Grammy Award winning band is most famous for songs like Welcome to The Jungle, Sweet Child O’ Mine, November Rain, Paradise City, Don’t You Cry and Patience.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
