Drug supplier applies for anticipatory bail
Hatim Khorakiwala, who is a medical distributor and also a partner of a agency supplying âMifty Kitâ, a pill used for abortion has moved the sessions court, seeking anticipatory bail application (ABA).
According to the bail application filed by Khorakiwala, he is a legal medical distributor and supplies medicines only on the demand of MBBS doctors or gynecologists. It was Dr Gurpreet Dingara, in this case, who had asked for the medicine and Khorakiwala was unnecessarily being framed.
Khorakiwala in his ABA filed through his advocate Sandeep Karnik said, âI should not be blamed in the case as we just distribute medicines. The real culprit is the doctor who had asked me for the 20 such abortion pills.â Recently Santa Cruz police had lodged a case against Dr Dingara, for allegedly misusing the abortion kit. An FDA inspector lodged an FIR after raiding the doctorâs clinic. The FIR maintained that the doctor had allegedly demanded 20 such illegal abortion pills from Khorakiwala.
When contacted, officials at the Santa Cruz police station refused to comment on Khorakiwalaâs involvement, claiming that the case was still under investigation. While Khoraki-walaâs ABA is still pending, the court granted Dr Dingara an ABA last week.

Christian group demands sangma excommunication
Age Correspondent
Mumbai, July 9
On the eve of P.A. Sangmaâs visit to Mumbai, a Christian group has petitioned to the Vaticanâs representative in New Delhi to excommunicate the Opposition supported Presidential candidate for absolving the VHP/RSS for the atrocities they perpetrated on church property, officials and nuns in Orissa in 2008.
In the petition addressed to H.E. Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to India, Dr Abraham Mathai, president of Indian Christian Voice and Harmony Foundation has pointed to the fact that Sangma, a born Catholic had compromised his principles and warmed up to Narendra Modi, the main perpetrator of the 2002
Gujarat genocide in lieu of his support for his candidature for Presidency. Justifying his plea for excommunication, Dr Mathai has suggested that Mr Sangma is undergoing a spell of amnesia as he absolved the RSS and VHP of all the atrocities they perpetrated in Orissa in 2008.
âLast week he (Sangma) absolved and exonerated the VHP/RSS from the Orissa pogroms of 2008 where Catholic priests were killed brutally, nuns raped before being murdered and burned, Church property destroyed and vandalised. He has conveniently obliterated these horrendous accounts that shocked civilised humanity to the core,â said Dr Mathai.
In the light of such selfish motives of Mr Sangma that hurt the sentiments of all minority communities, Dr Mathai said that he was not fit for becoming the president nor remaining a Catholic.
