Cops file chargesheet in Lohariya murder case
The crime branch of Mumbai police filed the chargesheet in the murder of Navi Mumbai builder Sunil Kumar Lohariya case on Wednesday. The chargesheet includes more than 2,000 pages and is filed against eight accused. Total nine people have been arrested in the case and three accused have also been shown as wanted in the case.
Lohariya was shot dead in broad daylight outside his office in Vashi by two people — Venkatesh Shettiar and Wajid Qureshi — on February 14. Shettiar was nabbed while trying to flee, and former police officer Emmanuel Amolik was arrested after Shettiar named him during interrogation.
“The chargesheet was filed against Amolik, businessman Sumit Bachchewar, Shettiar, Qureshi, Altaf Khan, Naseer Ansari, Kailash Gomane and Rajeev Chauri alias Frances. A supplementary chargesheet would be filed against Bhupesh Gupta, a cable operator from Navi Mumbai, Suresh Bijlani, S.P. Gupta and Anurag Garg have been shown as absconding,” said a senior crime branch officer.
The crime is alleged to have taken place due to business disputes between Lohariya and businessman Bijlani. Three businessmen from Navi Mumbai are also alleged to have been involved in the dispute.
