Combing ops in Gadchiroli dist
A day after the bloodbath by suspected Maoist rebels in which a Congress leader was gunned down, along with several others in the neighbouring Chattisgarh state, the Maharashtra police has started combing operations in the Gadchiroli district.
Several platoons of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) and the elite C-50 squads are running combing operations in the Naxal-affected Gondia in Gadchiroli.
The combing operations are being carried out in the ‘Rest Zone’ and Korchi areas of Gondia. The local police in a joint operation with personnel of the paramilitary forces are patrolling and conducting nakabandis on the national and state highways and strategically located important points.
A few days before the attack took place, the police authorities received an anonymous letter where the sender had threatened to kill a member of Legislative Assembly.
Taking note of the letter, security has been beefed up in Kakodi, Dareksa, Paraswada, Lanji and Balaghat areas of Gadchiroli.
