City gets new set of babus

The much-awaited transfers of senior Indian Administrative Services officers were declared by the chief minister’s Secretariat on Wednesday evening. As many as 28 IAS officers have been transferred. Amongst those transferred are officers of the ranks of principle secretaries such as J.S. Saharia from the 1978 batch who has been transferred from higher and technical department to the relief and rehabilitation department.
As always the transfer of senior administrative and police officers are expected during the summer vacations. But this year there was an inordinate delay.
Apart from Mr Saharia, other principal secretaries who were transferred include Sunil Porwal (1983 batch), Dr. P. S. Meena (1981 batch), Anand Kulkarni (1982 batch), and
Vijay Satbir Singh (1984 batch).
Mr Uttam Khobragade (1984 batch), general manager (GM) BEST has been transferred to the post of principal secretary, Adivasi Vikas department while O.P. Gupta, Secretary (Order & Method) will take over from Mr Khobragade. The BMC’s additional municipal commissioner, R.A. Rajeev has been transferred as commissioner, Thane Municipal Council. V. Giriraj, managing director, of the Maharashtra state finance corporation has been transferred as secretary irrigation and employment guarantee scheme, while Rameshchandra Sagar has been transferred to the post of project director, National Rural Health Mission.
Interestingly, Seema Vyas, who was commissioner, state lotteries and small savings directorate, has been transferred after the uproar during the budget session over lotteries outside the state evading taxes. She has been sent to the food and drug administration department. The transfer also includes shifting of collectors of Aurangabad, Parbhani, Mumbai, Satara, Chandrapur and Gondia districts as well as the revenue commissioner of Nagpur division Asim Gupta. Mr Gupta has been transferred as additional municipal commissioner, BMC.
