Body found in suitcase

The body of a woman was found bundled in a suitcase on a platform at CST station on Wednesday morning. The CST GRP is relying on CCTV footage to find a clue as to who abandoned the suitcase on platform 8 and 9 from where long-distance trains originate and terminate.
On Wednesday morning, few passersby and railway personnel notified the police about an unattended suitcase lying near a food stall. Suspecting something amiss, the police pressed into service sniffer dogs to identify if there were explosives in the bag. The suitcase was later opened and the body of a woman dressed in churidar was found bundled inside. A case under Section 302 (murder) under the IPC has been registered.
An autopsy report from the JJ Hospital confirmed that the woman’s body had multiple injury marks and ascertained strangulation as the cause of death. Prima facie reports from St George’s Hospital had revealed that the woman appeared pregnant. However, the JJ Hospital autopsy did not confirm the same.
The body was found minutes after the Pune-Mumbai Sinhagad Express pulled into CST station. There were no valuables or belongings found on the body that could help pin down the identity of the woman.
“We are working on gathering CCTV images in order to circulate them. They will help us find out who left the bag at the station,” said Surendra Deshmukh, senior police inspector, CST GRP.
This is the second such incident in which a body was found abandoned on a railway station. In May last year, the body of a woman who was later identified as Rehmat Khan, was found at Central Railway’s Sandhurst Road station. Semen stains were found on her private parts. The police had arrested Rehmat’s doctor husband from Madhya Pradesh along with two of their relatives in the case.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
