Bal Bhawan in final
Bal Bhawan, Dwarka, entered the final of the 5th Bal Bhawan Premier League U-14 cricket tournament beating Uday Bhan Academy by eight wickets in the first semi-final on Saturday.
The Bal Bhawan boys put in a commanding performance in all departments of the game and progressed into the title clash without much fight from their opponents.
Batting first, Uday Bhan Academy found the going tough against a disciplined bowling performance by their opponents. Yutish (3/25) led the charge while Ritik Kanojia (2/27) and Lavish (2/25) kept the runs in check with wickets at regular intervals for Bal Bhawan. Only Gulzar Singh (44) could make a contribution on note as Uday Bhan Academy were restricted to 178/9 in 40 overs.
The chase was led brilliantly by Gupil Rai with a 76-run knock. Kanojia (37 not out) made it a memorable outing for himself after an impressive bowling spell as Bal Bhawan chased down the target in 33 overs.
The second semi-final between Rohtak Road Gymkhana and Telefunken Club was also one-sided affair with the latter registering a seven-wicket win to enter the final. Akash Tomar (3/50 and 41) emerged the star performer for Telefunken Club.
Batting first, Rohtak Road were bowled out for 153 in 37 overs with Tomar leading the bowling charge for Telefunken. In reply, Shivam Dhoundiyal (50 not out) anchored the chase well as Telefunken reached the target in 32 overs.
