Armed men rob Nashik land developer of `1cr
The police is on the lookout for four armed robbers, who looted a land developer of over `1 crore using some chilli powder and a handgun in Nashik city on Thursday.
According to the police, the four masked robbers arrived on two motorcycles, and created panic by firing on the ground at the victim’s office. Even before the victim, Mukund Nimba Mandge, could recover, they threw chilli powder at him and snatched two bags containing cash amounting to `1,03,50,000.
According to Mr Mandge, while fleeing, the robbers downed the shutters of the office to avoid pursuit. Police sources said that the robbers might have been tipped off about the cash kept in the office. Mr Mandge had kept the cash to finalise a land deal in Igatpuri.
A case of robbery has been filed in the Ambad MIDC police station and further investigations are on.

Man kills self after ill Mom’s death

Depressed over his ailing mother’s death, a 36-year-old Khar resident committed suicide at his residence soon after completing his mother’s last rites.
According to the Nirmal Nagar police, the deceased, Santosh Kalmashte, hanged himself in his residence on Wednesday afternoon. The suicide came to light after his neighbours became aware of a stench emanating from his house and raised an alarm after seeing him hanging from the ceiling fan through the window.
“Santosh’s sister has given a statement saying that Santosh was very depressed after his mother passed away last month,
following a prolonged illness. He returned on Sunday after performing her asthi visarjan rituals, and is
believed to have killed himself sometime between Sunday and Wednesday,” said Nirmal Nagar police station sub-inspector Swati Gaware.
