Anna, Ramdev join hands again
Ahead of their proposed protests in Delhi, activist Anna Hazare and yoga guru Baba Ramdev launched an attack on the UPA government on Tuesday, accusing it of not showing enough resolve in tackling corruption and bringing back the black money stashed abroad.
Mr Hazare and Mr Ramdev said that they would support each other in the fight. While Team Anna is launching an indefinite protest in Jantar Mantar from July 25, Baba Ramdev’s protest starts from August 9 at Ramlila Maidan. “Ramdev is fighting to bring back the black money. We are demanding a strong Lokpal to fight corruption. The government has no intention to do so. Why are no efforts being taken to bring back the black money stashed abroad? There may be people in the government who have hidden black money and this may be the reason. What is preventing them from taking action?” Mr Hazare told reporters.
On his part, Mr Ramdev said that people have been waiting for a strong Lokpal and agitating against the black money issue for over a year now, but the “government has time and again hoodwinked the public”. He went on to add, “The intention of the government behind introducing a strong Lokpal does not seem right. So now, we have to decide for how long we will have to go on with the agitation.”
Whenever these issues are raised, Mr Hazare said, they were told that these are just allegations and there is no proof, but the truth won’t come out without an independent investigation.
