Aadhar enrolment at door step?
People who do not want or are unable to stand in queues may be able to make enrolments for Aadhar for a nominal charge sitting at their homes. The state government is considering hiring an agency to provide this facility.
Rajesh Aggarwal, principal secretary of the information technology department confirmed this. “The state government is seriously considering the option of appointing an agency for the ‘Aadhar enrollment on order’ for the residents, who want the procedures to be completed sitting at home. The service will be made available to the public at very nominal rates that will not be more than `100,” Mr Aggarwal said.
He added that it was difficult to determine the cost for the paid services of Aadhar enrolment, but it would be kept as low as possible. However, there is no response from the agencies over the state’s plan.
“People are willing to pay the price for such services. This also would help us in covering the remaining population that is left out due to various reasons, including the physically challenged and bed-ridden,” he said.
“The idea is to prepare an enrolment unit on two wheelers, which would also bring down the cost of the service,” Mr Aggarwal further said. As per the statistics provided by the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), the enrollment for Aadhar in the state has covered 7.25 crore people, which is the highest in number across the country.
