4 robbers held while selling stolen booty
The DN Nagar police in Mumbai arrested four dacoits on Tuesday evening while they were trying to sell the stolen booty they had robbed from a jeweller after grievously injuring him in Brahmapuri tehsil in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra.
According to the DN Nagar police, the accused have been identified as Satish Mane (21), Sumit Lanjhewar (19), Swapnil Sonavne (23) and Nirmal Ikke (19). All the four are residents of Chandrapur’s bordering Nagpur district.
Police inspector, crime, Dyanesh Devde of DN Nagar police station said, “On June 27, the four had targeted one jeweller at a secluded place in while he was riding his bike. One of them hit the jeweller with a wooden stick on his head. They then robbed him and came here to sell the stolen gold.”
“The jeweller was grievously injured in the incident and is recuperating at a hospital in Nagpur. An FIR had been registered against the four at the Sindewahi police station in Brahmapuri,” added police sub-inspector Sandeep Gite. Acting on a tip-off, that the four are coming to Manish Nagar near Four Bungalows in Andheri (west) to sell the booty to a middleman, the police officials arrested them. The police has recovered 250 grams of gold and `35,000 cash from them.
