3 men acted as saviours for duo
The three persons, Raj Kumar alias Raju, Jeet and Surender, who had come to the rescue of the 23-year-old gangrape victim and her male friend on Sunday night, were the saviours of the duo.
The three men work with a private agency which provides road services on the highway. Jeet said that while crossing the Mahipalpur flyover at 10.05 pm on his patrolling motorcycle, he heard screams of “Bachao! Bachao!’” after which he took a U-Turn and reached the spot, where the duo was dumped. “I was taken a back to see the duo who laid nude. The girl was bleeding and was unconscious. The boy was nude too but he was conscious,” he said.
The male victim friend told Jeet that they were travelling in a bus where they were assaulted and beaten up. Further, the accused persons had took their clothes and had thrown them there.
Jeet made a call at a patrolling control room at about 10.10 pm and asked them to inform the police and send a PCR van soon. Meanwhile, Jeet’s colleagues, Raj and Surender, who were on their motorcycle, came and they also made a call at the patrolling control room. “The duo was in a very bad state. As it was a cold night and they were nude, I covered the girl with my jacket but still she was shivering,” Jeet added.
Surender and Raju also took off their jackets and sweaters and covered the boy. Then, Surender arranged a bed sheet from a nearby hotel and wrapped the girl. “At 10.20 pm, the PCR van reached the place and immediately took the duo in their van. Although the boy was conscious, still he was unable to walk. I and Raju managed to drop him to the PCR van,” Surender said.
Raju in his chocked voice said that on Monday morning, “when I tuned into the news channels, I was shocked to hear what all the duo have gone through.”
