22-yr-old Pune girl hangs self
A 22-year-old employee of a software company was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her residence in Pimpri near Pune on Sunday.
The police said that the victim, Priyanka Shivaji Murade, who resides at Sukhwani Complex in Udyamnagar, committed suicide by hanging herself in her room. The police is yet to ascertain the
reason behind the extreme step.
A suicide note was recovered from her possession, which read, “I love my parents and no one should be held responsible for my death.” The police has registered a case of accidental death in this regard.
The incident came to light on Sunday morning when Priyanka did not response to the repeated knocks on the door by her parents. They then broke the door, only to find her hanging from the ceiling fan with a dupatta. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead before arrival.
The police ruled out any suspicion in the incident. “She has clearly mentioned that her parents should not be blamed for her death,” said S.V. Rakh, police sub-inspector from Pimpri police station. He further added, “We verified the hand-writing; the suicide note was written by her. The family is in shock. Hence, we are yet to find out the reason for the suicide. A post-mortem was conducted, after which the body was handed over to the family,” Mr Rakh said.
Priyanka worked with a reputed software company. Her mother took tuitions, while her father worked in a private company. She is also survived by her brother.
Psychiatrist Dr Harish Shetty said, “When a victim does not blame anyone for her death in her letter, it could mean two things — it could either be a case of love, or could suggest that she has not lived up to her parents’ expectations. This is just a plain case of depression.”
