20-yr-old drowns in pool, 3 friends held

The police on Wednesday arrested three youngsters for causing death due to negligence after their 20-year-old friend died in the swimming pool of a posh Versova society, during a drunken swimming session in the early hours of the morning.
According to the Versova police, the four youngsters, Imran Sheikh(20), Mudassar Ansar (24), Nikita Pujari (22) and Prajakta Dalvi (27)met up at Ansar’s residence at Woodstock Society, Versova on Tuesday night. They went for a drive in Ansar’s BMW, and on the way back brought some liquor from a wine shop, which they consumed while sitting by the swimming pool.
“After the drinking session, all four youngsters entered the swimming pool at around 2.30 am. Sheikh strayed to the deep end (almost eight feet deep), and lost his footing, going underwater. The other three pulled him out and tried pumping water out of his stomach. They then rushed him to Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle in an autorickshaw, where he was declared dead before admission,” said Nandkumar Mhetar, senior police inspector, Versova police station.
The hospital authorities then informed the Versova police about Sheikh’s death and a team of policemen reached the hospital to make inquiries. Sheikh’s family subsequently alleged that he had died due to negligence on part of his three friends, and the police registered a complaint against all three of them under Section 304 (A) of the IPC.
“After completing inquiries against them, we placed all three of them under arrest on Wednesday afternoon. They will be produced in court on Thursday. Investigations so far have not thrown up any indications of foul play,” Mr Mhetar added.
Sheikh was a butcher by profession and lived with his parents at Versova village.
He was an old friend of Ansar's, who is a student.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
