2 killed in bike accident in Borivali, one injured
In a major bike accident in Borivali on Saturday, two youngsters lost their lives, while a third sustained serious injuries. According to the MHB Colony police, the three were over-speeding on the bike and none of them was wearing a helmet. In another accident at Bhandup, an 82-year-old woman died after being hit by a BEST bus.
The deceased have been identified as Sanket Bhandare (21) and Manish Datwe (18). The third rider, Prashant Alam (17) has been admitted to Bhagwati Hospital.
“Bhandare was speeding the bike when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle, after which it skid and hit a divider. The three were thrown off the bike due to the impact of the collision and sustained grievous injuries,” said an official from the MHB Colony police.
According to the police, they were driving on the southbound stretch of Linking Road in Borivali (west) when the incident occurred at around 2.30 pm on Saturday.
The trio was taken to Bhagwati Hospital. where Datwe and Bhandare were declared dead on arrival while Alam sustained grievous injuries. The police said that he is still receiving treatment at the hospital and his condition is stable.
Meanwhile, the Bhandup police arrested a 48-year-old BEST bus driver Pandurang Sawant after he crushed 82-year-old Banubai Awle to death on Saturday morning.
