Youth step forward to adopt villages
Anant Vikas, a non-profit and non-government organisation along with United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) recently held a press conference at Taj Vivanta in the capital to encourage and empower the youth of India on social responsibility.
Hriitu Rana, managing trustee, Mind Genius Charitable Trust and Anant Vikas said that the Gomla project that began in August, 2011 with volunteers from St. Stephen’s College has been a breathtaking experience. She took this event as an opportunity to instill the sentiment of making a positive change in youth of India. “Youth Empowerment Mission encourages urban youth to adopt villages in their vicinity and help in its over-all development,” she said.
Many college students along with Fr Valson Thampu, principal, St. Stephen’s college, Kiran Mehra, Kerpelman, director, United Nation Information Centre for India & Bhutan among others were present at the conference.
