Youth connection

He is all of 22, but young entrepreneur Imtiaz Khatri already knows how to make his presence felt. Being the head of a well known infrastructure group INK Infrastructure, Imtiaz recently grabbed eyeballs by sponsoring the first ever India Resort Fashion Week (IRFW) in Goa, where he was seen hobnobbing with the likes of Vijay Mallya, Neha Dhupia and even walked the ramp with Sushmita Sen.

So, was he nervous walking the ramp with someone like Sushmita? “The word nervous doesn’t go in the same line as Sushmita. The energy a person gives out rubs off on you, and I’ve never met anyone with such a strong positive aura, so there is no question of being nervous around her, if anything it just gave me more confidence,” said Imtiaz.
The young businessman who is known in the social circuits for his high-flying life and his love for luxurious cars says that being part of a glamorous event like this was not just to gain popularity. “I don’t really intend on grabbing eyeballs. I hosted this event because it was showcasing a very refreshing aspect of Indian fashion, had a young casual vibe and at 22 I thought it was just perfect to host,” answered Imtiaz.
The young lad is looking forward to making his companies connect with youth and hence is happy with his collaboration with IRFW. “INK is a very young company. Its four years old. We have a young team and we want to connect to the youth and what better to connect with the youth than fashion,” he said, adding, “Next season, we are planning to get down some international designers as well. In fact we might shift the location to Dubai. We are already working towards it.”
Although Imtiaz, who at a very early age, founded INK Infrastructure and has succeeded in creating a name in the real estate sector, belongs to a serious business family, his love for glitz and glamour is quite evident with his collaborations. After the IRFW, now he will also be the main sponsor of Sushmita’s beauty pageant I Am She.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
