Youth appeals for no violence
While politicians are calling for a balanced approach to the judgement on the sensitive Ayodhya issue, youngsters are praying that the results don’t result in a communal backlash.
Hundreds of comments have flooded the Internet appealing against the negative consequences of the verdict. Most of these have been posted by youngsters who have read, heard or in some cases witnessed the violence.
Says Amair Ali Siddique on the discussion section of Ayodhya Verdict on Facebook: “Whatever is the verdict on Ayodhya…The common people of this great nation do not want anymore bloodshed.”
Several others are echoing the same sentiment. Radhika Ghose says, “Whenever the decision is made, we should strive towards making it a day of peace.”
Politicians like Rahul Gandhi and others have emphasised that there are other issues of fundamental relevance than the Ayodhya verdict. But call it loyalty to the cause, or vested interest or propaganda, for some it is an important issue that needs a defined conclusion.
“It’s partly politicised and extremely sensitive,” says Allen Suraj Bardewa, who works for VNV. He believes that the verdict should never see the light of the day. He feels this might lead to needless violence. But, like many, Allen also believes that the issue needs closure.
