Yak about Yeti
There are but a few cars available in India that stand out from the regular bunch of hatchbacks, sedans or SUVs. Skoda is hoping for a cash-crop in the recently launched, uniquely-styled Yeti, a part-hatchback, part-SUV. The first thing that hits you about this new car is its size, or the lack of it. Compact at only 4.2 metres long, it’s certainly no brawny beast. However, its tight dimensions give it the ability to hold its own in city traffic situations, yet still function as a comfortable and practical weekend getaway vehicle. The styling, while unique, does work. It has a distinctive B-pillar while the skid plate under the front bumper and the flared wheel arches lend the Yeti aggressiveness not restricted to the exterior, being a good driver’s car as well. Yeti impresses in many aspects, but its high price tag of `16.50 lakh might just deter the clientele.
