Why are these hipsters not as cool as they think?
There are occasions when one goes to a music festival, pretending to know all there is to know about music bands, just to appear with-it. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but perhaps it’s not advisable to fake it too often.
According to The Telegraph, late night host and comedian, Jimmy Kimmel, pulled a prank on some wanna-be hipsters at the Coachella Music Festival, California. The host of the Jimmy Kimmel Live show sent a producer to the fest to test the theory about ‘true’ music fans. The video shows a young presenter asking attendees what they thought about (non-existent) bands like The Obesity Epidemic and The Chelsea Clintons. The hip crowd, blindly accepting that there did indeed exist such bands, went on to say knowledgeably, “They’re always amazing” and “Really excited to see them live”. The funny footage captures the lengths to which people would go to look ‘cool’, especially in front of the camera. Tough luck, music lovers, for the camera does not lie!
