Who has built the largest Lego copter?
Ryan McNaught who built the wondrous creation over the course of a painstaking six weeks — only to see it destroyed by a group of pranksters while on display.
The 100,000-piece Erickson Air-Crane was an urban legend in the modern trend of Lego building in which there are international events and contests. The huge 13-foot-long, 3.2-foot-tall model was on showcase at the Cairns Central Shopping Centre in Cairns, Australia where it was a massive hit.
It’s not as big as the 22-ft long, 330-pound, 200,000-brick Lego battleship Yamato, which is still the largest ever model built — but the helicopter still was an extraordinary work of art. McNaught felt disappointed that his effort of six weeks had gone to waste and not left to be appreciated by the community. He was sorry more because more kids wouldn’t be able to have a glimpse of the toy, according to Cairns.com.au.
Ryan, aka The Brickman is a LEGO Certified Professional, one of only 13 in the world and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere.
