Where would one find these neighbourhoods?
Photographer Michael Wolf’s pictures may take a person a few seconds to grasp what he/she’s looking at. His dizzying pictures of Hong Kong’s many skyscraper neighbourhoods have attracted attention as people often mistake them for an unidentifiable piece of technology.
These colourful high rises are a part of the photographer’s series called The Architecture of Density, which defines why Hong Kong has become one of the ‘World’s Most Vertical Cities’. Wolf drives around a city and looks for ideal locations for unobstructed views. He says he prints out hundreds of pictures and puts them together to remove the context from them. According to Wired, Wolf often folds away images with sunlight and horizons as he looks to capture just the pure architecture of these cluttered buildings.
