When do we see action heroes together?

Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are faces that we see in different action films. But, The Expendables 2 is made with a difference. “I am certain that the stellar star cast of this Simon West film will keep me on the edge of my seat,” says Srikant Suvvaru, brand consultant. For the first time in the history of Hollywood, this will showcase all the action heroes on one screen.
“This is the only film where we get to see brutal action and the best stunts performed by the best action stars on one platform,” says Rahul G, a student. When people think of the Expendables series, they think action. But for product designer Aditya Patel, he says, “Expendables for me is the smell of gunpowder and sweat. Modern day action films have turned clinical. For me this film is a retro refresher.”
For some, it is just about killing. “Every character is unique and defends himself from his enemies,” adds Rahul.
Boys need their toys. “Terry Crews wielding an AA-12 machine gun is going to be legendary,” says Aditya. It would be wishful thinking to have Terry holding two of these guns.
The trailer proves to be very promising in the sense that it guarantees a riot of action. “Jason Statham atop a tank in the trailer seems promising,” says Aditya.
There are many new actors in this sequel that is exciting for youngsters. Chuck Norris is someone many are looking forward to. “Norris is not in The Expendables 2. The Expendables 2 is in Norris. I am most excited about Van Damme’s comeback,” says Aditya.
The first film had won over many hearts. “In the first film, Willis and Schwarzenegger made a cameo. Here, they are giving us more. Very excited about it,” says Srikant.
In every film today, people want a story and some substance. But, the Expendables are different again. Srikant adds, “When you have so many action stars on screen, you cannot expect a story. I just want to see a lot of violence, shooting and killing through the film.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
