When do Bengalureans Break a Leg?

Bengaluru, which is known for its fantastic Electronic Dance Music scene, has many youngsters heading to Mumbai for three days of dance, music and masti. EDM enthusiasts are in for a memorable summer experience. Sunburn Mumbai 2012 is all set to create waves this weekend.
Shaikh Sahil, a business development manager says, “We, in India never get such opportunities to catch so many DJs under one roof. Wherever it happens in the country, it is important to catch the event.” Sahil has a friend who is joining him in Mumbai from Indore. They will be accompanied by friends in Mumbai.
Many youngsters did not expect this edition of the festival to have international acts. Upasana Simha, a designer says, “I did not expect the likes of Gareth Emery and Skazi to be a part of the festival. I am very excited that they are coming. I am more excited about getting an opportunity to attend this festival. I think this will be better than Goa because there is a lot more we can do in Mumbai.”
Gareth Emery seems to have quite a fan following in India. Prasad Gowda, a trance enthusiast says, “I am going for the festival mainly for Gareth Emery who is lined up for April 8. His music is pulsating.” Sahil adds, “Aly and Fila on the final day are going to be legendary.”
It is not only Bengaluru’s music enthusiasts that are heading to the festival, but DJs also. Tuhin Mehta also known as Brute Force is on that list, with Vachan Chinnappa. Tuhin Mehta says, “There is nothing in comparison to the high you get from playing to a crowd at Sunburn. The energy levels are always high.” Rohit Barker will also be there as the host. This is a platform for DJs from across the world, particularly India to interact and play together. Vachan Chinnappa says, “I am looking forward to interacting with DJs from across the world. Even DJs in the same city don’t get to jam together. This is an opportunity we cannot miss.”
The tickets for the festival went like hot cakes in the early bird rates. Even after the ticket rates have increased now, they are still selling very fast. Prasad says, “I bought my ticket for `6,000.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
