When did storms become awe-inspiring?
The cyling, cylindrical vortex of supercell thunderstorms one associates with disasters are proving to be a source of great inspiration and beauty for photographer Mitch Dobrowner and his guide Roger Hill. They have been travelling around the Great plains and high deserts of the United States in search of jaw dropping images of these storms. Dobrowner pulls out his camera and clicks black and white pictures of the visually striking forces of nature as Hill takes him the eye of the storm. According to Wired, the purpose of these photographs is to concentrate on the natural beauty of storms themselves unlike other pictures, which prefer to display chaos, and destruction storms leave behind. Dobrowner told the website, “I don’t like to see a lot of destruction or violence. If I want to see that, I can see it on the streets of Los Angeles where I live, out on the plains I can just enjoy the serenity and beauty of the storms. That’s the part that really feeds me.”
