What has caused outrage at the Anne Frank Museum?
Justin Bieberâs comments that heâd have wanted her to be a âBelieberâ! The Canadian teen sensation who was on a tour of Europe, found time to visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam which served as the hiding place for the famous Holocaust victim.
It was an unexpectedly mature gesture on Bieberâs part, it seemed, for he is known to often have his foot in his mouth. But alas, it was not so. According to reports, the chart-topping performer wrote in the guest book, âTruly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully, she would have been a belieber.â
Millions around the world consider Anne Frank to be one of the most inspirational figures of the Second World War after her diary documented the horrors of life in Netherlands under Nazi rule. Referring to her as a âgreat girlâ in itself upset many, but the assumption that had she been alive at the same time as Justin Bieber, she would have been a fan of his pop music has caused outrage at his hubris and self-absorption.This isnât the first time the 19-year-old has been in the thick of trouble in Europe. He fought with shutterbugs in London, had his pet monkey confiscated in Germany and made schools reschedule exams in Norway due to his concert dates.
We do wonder when the next facepalm moment is due.
