Wake up to Jamaican coffee
Nothing exemplifies Jamaica as much as Bob Marley, coffee and rum. While Marley cannot possibly lend more than his name to a cocktail, rum and coffee together make for an excellent mood lifter. With the country experiencing dipped temperatures and torrential rains, a cocktail like the Jamaican Coffee is ideal for a rainy day.
Most people are familiar with the Irish Coffee; its Jamaican counterpart is on the surface not more than just rum replacing the traditional whisky component. While ideally it is perfect when the ingredients are also Jamaican, one can make it with regular rum and coffee too. Brew the coffee (120 ml) stronger than you usually like it. Once you’ve poured the hot coffee into the mug , add the rum (60 ml) and stir. Top up with some whipped cream. Adding a sprinkle of nutmeg instead of ground coffee (as in the Irish version) elevates the flavour profile of the drink.
