Viru switches to lenses
Team India opener Virender Sehwag has ordered for contact lenses, according to his wife, Aarti Sehwag. Speaking exclusively to us she said, “Viru is waiting for his lenses to arrive in time. If it comes before the first Test (against Australia) beginning Friday, he would certainly use it, or else, the spectacle prescribed by his doctor.”
Unlike in the past, when Aarti used to be with him on every tour, she would not be accompanying him this time.
“I am not travelling to Chennai. I have to look after my sons and would be watching Viru on TV,” she said. “I can pray for his big score from our Delhi home,” she added.
Later, Nawab of Najafgarh’s eye specialist, Dr Harsh Kumar revealed that the lenses have been ordered in Singapore.
“Virender Sehwag has only arranged for his lens and he has been taught how to make use of it. I want him to score 400 runs this time,” the doctor said.
“Even before he became my patient (introduced by a friend of friends), I have been following his game with interest,” the doctor, who himself played the game in his school days, said.
“He is the first international player under my care, though there have been many big names who have come to me for treatment,” he said.
Dr Kumar refused to reveal Sehwag’s eye vision power, but added, “It is a minor number.”
