A very furry X’mas

The holiday season is here and many are excitedly planning how to celebrate with their loved ones in order to make it a truly special time. As many plan presents and treats, they are making sure their four legged and furry loved ones are kept in mind. Pets are in for big treats and a season of pampering during the holidays. We speak with a few doting pet owners to find out what their pets can expect.
Namita Malik, an entrepreneur is very excited about Christmas this year and is making sure that her pets, dog Kiss and parrot Love, are also a part of the celebration. “We pamper them throughout the year, but it’s always nice to find an excuse to do something extra special for them. Christmas gives us a chance to do just that.” Namita adds, “We will be putting up stockings for our pets so that Santa can leave them some great presents. I have it on good authority that they will receive some new toys and chewy treats.”
Communications expert Sonali Raval says that she and her pet spitzers Tintin and Gypsy use the holiday season to get out of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet. “The last holiday season, we went to a place outside Hassan and they enjoyed the wide open spaces and a break away from the city.” She says that on Christmas day itself, she plans to bake a special cake and some treats for them and also hand out calendars for 2011 with their pictures on it. “They may not understand what Christmas means but they definitely enjoy the pampering. It’s great to be able to do something nice for them.”
Kamini Nanda, who specialises in making treats for pets, says that she has a big Christmas planned. “I am planning to make Christmas-themed cookies and also some yummy candy canes.” She will not only be delighting other pets but also her own, as she adds, “My pets will be my test subjects so they too will have a Merry Christmas this year.”
As the trend of involving one’s pets in the holiday season grows more popular, Sonali says that is also just a nice way to lavish some love and attention on these beloved pets. She says, “My pets adore the attention. To see them enjoy the holiday season in their own way in definitely a highlight for me too!”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
