For a very disciplined diet
Low calorie food, a strict ban on chocolates and junk food; and several restrictions on the food that you actually like... All this is part of a strict diet regime, which, for many of us, just goes out of the window after a point of time. Reports of the Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, or even the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Shilpa Shetty, giving into temptation have filled reams of newsprint. In fact, Fergie reportedly said that her problem was disciplining her eating, as she impulsively binges on what she likes. Nutritionist Aparna Tandon says, “The first no-no is caffeine and sugar. If you cut down on the intake of these two ingredients, then automatically your diet will fall into place.”
Talking about following a regimen, Aparna says, “The best way is to carry your own food even when you travel, so as to avoid giving into the temptation of eating out. Food can be made interesting even with the simplest of ingredients.”
Fitness experts point out that giving into temptation is a common problem, which is why their clients are allowed ‘cheat’ days. No matter how strict the diet plan may be, people are allowed one day in a week to eat what they like.
Puneetha S., trainer at a popular fitness chain in Chennai, says, “When you get tempted, it is difficult to concentrate on other activities.”
“The best solution is to allow yourself one cheat day — when you can eat anything you like but in moderation. Any diet is all about self control,” sums Puneetha.
